HOMESCHOOL TENNIS

Lighthouse Home School Athletics is partnering with area tennis coaches to offer homeschool students an opportunity to learn tennis from the beginner level to advanced at a reduced group rate. These coaches may be tennis professionals, previous high school players, or just a mom or dad who has played at an advanced level. Lighthouse Home School Athletics does not have a specific tennis coach or courts. Players who choose to participate on the LHSA Tennis Team may choose to be coached or simply practice on their own schedule, however the team will meet for practices on a given schedule according to need once the season begins (typically late January through April.

Coaches who offer lessons may meet with students at a variety of locations, includint the Beaumont Tennis Complex, parks or rec centers in the area, or schools where courts are available.

Those interested in competition have the opportunity through LHSA to enter tournaments and matches to develop tennis skills and advance. LHSA will provide a tournament schedule, set up by our program and which includes area private schools, during the tennis season from late January to early to mid April, depending on the level.  Middle school players will have opportunity to compete in the CCAL scheduled games and the CCAL Tennis Championship. High School players will have opportunity to compete in local high school tournaments and the T-CAL tennis championship.

Season/Practice

2026-2027 Season of LHSA Tennis typically begins in late September and consists of private group lessons through various coaches offering discounted group price at The Tennis Complex in Beaumont or mid-county area locations. Tournaments and matches held will be at one of those locations OR at a chosen tournaments in the SETX area with CCAL for middle school and independently at schools for high school.

There will be a parent/player meeting at start up in early January 2026 for those interested in competitive tournaments to discuss and review the season requirements, expectations, and plan and answer any questions. The website announcements page will be an essential communication tool. We use a GroupMe for the tennis team for pertinent short term notices and chat among members. Lighthouse Home School Athletics on Facebook will be a place to post team photos and other tennis related information.

Cost:

The total cost of tennis will be dependent upon tournaments in which each player participates. LHSA will enter tournaments as a team. When tournaments for individual players are available, LHSA will try to announce them for the benefit of the players and individual players will be responsible for their own registration and payment. Individuals may arrange payment with Coach Herr, Corbin Green, or other providers (you are not obligated to take lessons from the group coaches that we have secured) for group lessons. The season registration cost of $50 for tennis, payable upon registration with LHSA Tennis, includes the required team shirt.  depending on the shirt selected.  Families participating must be current with annual Lighthouse membership, and membership renewal is due by June 30 each year, so please be sure your membership is current. There will be volunteer needs as well as required fundraiser for participation, which will be used to offer a stipend for a coach to attend tournaments at which coaching is allowed, and or contribute to our annual awards ceremony or other team functions. Any tournaments secured will require a minimum player roster and will include a tournament fee, for which players may pay up front or host a team fundraiser. Any team sponsorships obtained will contribute to administrative costs and/ or insurance, team tees, and remainder will accrue to the LHSA tennis team account with LHSS/STEP.
